30 DAYS OF NIGHT

The one thing that I really like about vampire stories are that they remind us that there are a million different ways to tell the same story, and most of the time each new story is a success. Most of the time. My favorite scene is the one they have been showing in the trailers, where the head vampire says to the woman " no god", and shakes his head. It was done perfectly and really got the point across, however that is about the only English the head vampire knows. I don't know what language he speaks the rest of the film, but I sure don't understand it. It did though, provide effect.

One thing did really bother me was that it was supposed to be over a 30 day period of nights in Alaska. It seemed rather to take place over the span of one night. Without the light of day there was no sense of the passage of time.

The vampires themselves were scary because they were fast, silent and vicious, but for bloodsuckers they were very sloppy and seemed to leave more blood on the ground then they consumed.

It has an original ending, not seen in many movies of it's type, so if you like vampire movies and the dark you should go and see this film.
